I was just reading yet another post about possible causes/ origins of Lyme disease.. Many people speculate that it is a government created bio-weapon. Who knows.. maybe it is.. I certainly wouldn’t put it PAST certain bodies and agencies, and is it possible- sure.. I don’t rule out that possibility.. although I also respect that Nature has many potent and powerful mechanisms that keep nature in balance.. and we, as a species, have certainly been transgressing in that area. However.. ultimately, I don’t CARE.. who what where when.. it’s a waste of energy to waste looking for someone to blame.. so unless someone did develop it AND.. is sitting on a cure.. I prefer to put my energy into staying WELL. How about you….?
My own opinion is that it is very likely nothing more than natural mechanisms at work. If we look at maps of highest concentrations of Lyme disease, and look at the most developed ” suburban” areas.. it is pretty clear that OUR over-population and geography that has completely pushed into deer’s natural habitat is one of the primary reasons that WE, humans, are encountering this problem. I don’t think it is coincidence that the highest rates of Lyme disease ( et al), are the regions with the highest amount of suburban development. Noting, cities and urban areas, push the deer out of the living territory. Highly rural areas.. and the deer population has plenty of space to co-habitate. the middle-ground.. the deer have lost all their natural habitats.. or rather.. those habitats are occupied by people.. The deer are simply trying to live where they have always been living.
The trouble now, is that there are no natural predators in those areas to control the deer populations. This is because the biological phenomena, where the first thing any predator does when moving into a region.. is to eliminate all competition for resources/food/space. Soo.. the deer have become something like the rabbits in Australia.. who have no natural enemies, and populations reached epidemic proportions.
IF WE, had been living more sustainably all along.. and living more healthily.. we might not collectively have such a health crisis. Note- that even Louis Pasteur noted at the end of his career.. “La germe ce n’est rein; La terre, c’est toute.” Loosely translated.. it isn’t about the germ, the terrain, the earth is all– essentially saying.. healthy hosts don’t get sick.
And Current theory now speculates that many more people are infected with the lyme parasite.. much the way many people can be infected with HIV– and yet if they remain healthy and their immune system and life maintain un-stressed conditions.. may never manifest a full condition of disease ( poorly worded, my bad). So, if we were not bombarded by poor diet/ food, GMO crops, environmental toxins, and an over-abundance of medications and treatments that ultimately weaken the host.. and if we were not over-innocculating ourselves.. thereby stressing the immune system– rather than allowing it to “learn” by getting sick.. we might have less instance of mystery diseases, such as Lyme, CFIDS, fibromylaiga, morgellons, and other diseases for which there is no *known* cause. this is not to say that anyone who has lyme or another condition ( and I speak as someone who has had it for 18 years, a non-responder)..
this is not to say that it is the fault of any one single person.. no one brought this onto themselves or has some deep psychological dysfuntion.. ( although the emotional toll it takes on many lives, can indeed create dysfunction).. But this is a severe wake-up call, along with many other health and social situations we are experiencing in today’s very FK’d up paradigm. Where we go from here.. how we choose to respond, with anger, or empowerment that shifts each of us OUT of the dazed sleep-walk many people embody, on a daily basis.. THAT is the important question we all should be asking and answering….
